Strides & Tides 2017 came to a close with a Sunday of many great classes. The day began with 36 riders entering the Equine Insurance ring for the second round of the Hudson & Company Medal Finals and continued with the NorCal Equitation Classic divisions.
The Hudson & Company Medal Finals began with Round 1 on Saturday followed by Round 2 on Sunday morning. The final four Sophia Sanders, Taylor Wohler, Alexis Lee and Alexandra Sinclair were all asked to remove their stirrups and were invited back into the ring to complete work-off before the results could be announced.
A delighted Sophia Sanders was presented with the Hudson & Company Trophy and a CWD Saddle. The ribbons and prizes and wonderful trophy reflected the importance of the event, with the top four receiving a gift from CWD.
“Cipriani is only 7 years old and I got him in March,” Sophia Sanders explained. “I have been very successful with him this year and he has been absolutely fantastic. I look forward to continuing to do the medal finals and giving Cipriani a great ride. I am excited to have won today and the course was beautiful for the Finals, I love coming to Sonoma Horse Park.”
Sophia and her mother Eleece Sanders both thanked trainers Patty Ball and Kristie LaFreniere of Hunterville. “I am speechless.” said Eleece Sanders, “Sophia has worked so hard and in such a short time they have created a great partnership. Sophia and Cipriani have managed to create a great chemistry together. Her father Justin and I are so proud of her achievements. Patty and Kristie are so dedicated to their kids and they go above and beyond in everything they do. I know Sophia will be so happy to have made Patty proud today.”
Sophia and Reserve Champion Taylor Wohler and 10th place Alli Christy all train with Patty Ball. “I am very proud of Sophia, I could not be more proud, she, Taylor and Alli. Three in the top 10 and they all rode beautifully I am thrilled with them all.” Patty said.” Sophia has worked very hard for this she was 2nd at the Foundation Finals and 2nd at the PCHA Finals, I told her if you just keep doing what you are doing you are going to win one pretty soon and she did. I could not be happier.”
