Martin Collins USA was proud to recently provide a surface to Halton Equine Veterinary Center, a multi-vet practice located in Puslinch, Ontario. Warren Armstrong, Technical Services Manager for Halton Equine, was kind enough to provide us with the following overview of his experience working with Martin Collins USA.
“When we originally installed a new surface at the veterinary practice, we used standard sand before realizing that it would not serve its intended purpose. This prompted us to do some research and we subsequently spoke with several footing companies.
Preparing to Water Old Sand
We quickly learned that there is no rules as to what qualifications or standards footing companies must follow, who can sell what, or the claims that they can make. Because Polytrack was the surface installed at Woodbine, we decide to examine companies that have been around for a longer time period and have more background behind them. This led us to being introduced to Glynnie Walford of Martin Collins USA.
3600 gallons of water
Glynnie offered us a solution that was not being offered by the other footing companies and answered all of our questions. We sent Glynnie a sample of sand and she provided a proposal as to what we could do to obtain a decent base.
Leveling Old Sand
We then spoke with a few of Glynnie’s clients, including New Bolton Center, who all had high regard for Glynnie as to the way they had been handled as clients. We decided to do the installation ourselves and everything came together upon following the Martin Collins video instructions.
Laser Leveling New Silica Sand
Our experience with Glynnie was similar to that which we experience with our clients. The last thing people think about is footing, they just want any surface so they can ride. $10-15k is a lot of money to throw away purchasing basic Mason sand and then realizing you have to start from the beginning when what you have installed is not up to its intended purpose.
Placing and Spreading Fibre
Glynnie provided a workable solution for us that was sympathetic towards us not having a bottomless pit of money to work with in fixing our mistake. Several other companies wanted us to entirely remove the surface and start all over from scratch.
Fibre Spread Out
Glynnie’s scope of knowledge was very reassuring and made it easier for us to make a commitment to work with Martin Collins USA. She instilled a confidence that as long as we followed her instructions things would work out. The video provided by Martin Collins USA was very helpful.
We would highly recommend working with Martin Collins USA to anyone considering a new surface or attempting to rectify mistakes as to a surface choice that didn’t work out as intended.” – Warren Armstrong
