MARTIN COLLINS (FOUNDER)

Martin Collins knows the business well. Renowned as the innovator within the industry, Martin has more than 45 years experience in synthetic surface manufacture and installation. He has also set the standard and specification for the base construction under which his ‘stable’ of synthetic riding surfaces are installed. His surfaces provide high performance with lower maintenance for all equestrian disciplines.

As a working pupil with Alison and Alan Oliver, Martin Collins gained permission to ride in adult show jumping classes at age 15 in the UK. He later worked in yard maintenance for ‘legend’ UK showjumping trainer, Dick Stilwell, later training his own grade A jumpers, together with those owned by clients. Soon, in order to subsidize his riding, he was involved in underpinning and technical building work for leading UK companies.

After more than 7 years of early experimentation, Martin developed the Pacemaker riding surface; yet never one to rest on his laurels, he continued to research how recycled products could be used to improve synthetic-based riding surfaces. Eventually, he formulated the cost effective, sophisticated and successful surfaces of today.

Martin believes that horses will perform better on a synthetic surface that replicates the attributes of good turf and remains fully committed to the future of the industry. He is respected worldwide and often appears as an invited speaker at equine conferences. His aim is to continue to manufacture the best synthetic surfaces in the world, which allow the horse to work to the best of its ability with the least risk of injury.
