“In the search for a high quality footing for my outdoor arena that could withstand the rigors of extreme weather in Kentucky, I was looking for a surface that could provide even consistency and spring for my upper level show jumpers. The humidity in the summer months there can be daunting: high level percentages and sudden downpours can bring up to 4 inches of rain in one hour. This large amount of water must drain off efficiently so that work can be resumed within a few hours at most.
There can be periods of severe heat as well, and the surface must remain healthy and consistent for the feet and legs of my equine athletes. In discussing what types of mixtures to use with the silica sand and the Dammen-Riso system I had installed, it became apparent that CLOPF® was the very best choice. I spoke with riders who had a very critical appreciation of the response of footing in the realms of showjumping, dressage and eventing and decided to examine CLOPF® first hand.
The structure of the synthetic mix is most akin to the natural root system of a good field grass, and the size of the felt incorporated into it is quite small so it does not become heavy or remain over-saturated. In these times of extremely firm competition surfaces, the elasticity of the daily schooling surface is more important than ever. I installed CLOPF® on my farm in Lexington and have been very happy with it under all conditions. My horses are schooled in the best possible footing every day. We now have the very best surface in the area; the horses and my vet are convinced!”
